I started painting furniture when I moved into my first home, I was lucky to be given lots of furniture, but none of it matched and some bits had seen better days. Having watched some of the 90’s interior design programmes such as ‘Changing Rooms’, and already having a keen interest in Art and Design, I was inspired to make my home and mis-matching furniture my own. I experimented with different designs and techniques and each room and piece of furniture had its own unique look. We had ombré walls, matching hand-painted pieces of furniture and at one point, I even painted our entire bedroom ceiling with a detailed geometric design.

From finding old tired pieces of furniture that are on the verge of being thrown out, to seeing the final piece take pride of place in its new home, I love the whole transformation process (even the sanding). Gone are the days when upcycling meant just slapping a bit of paint on an old piece of furniture, there are so many great products available to create beautiful bespoke pieces that can last for years. There has never been more focus than there is now on recycling and reusing products and this is something that is really important to me, why go out and buy a new piece of furniture when you can have a unique piece created just for you.

Hi, I'm Gayle, owner of Live Moore Design.
